A glamour model and adult channel TV presenter who earned up to £4,000 a month has been fined for benefit fraud.
Lori Buckby, 25, of Battersea, south London, received a carer’s allowance while she looked after her father who had had a stroke.
However Buckby continued to claim when her grandmother became the main carer after she got a job.
At South Western magistrates court Buckby was fined £1,000, ordered to pay back £2,406 and must pay £100 costs.
The glamour model worked for television channel Babestation and now sells soft porn pictures of herself on the internet.
The court heard Buckby had a close relationship with her father, who ran a gym in Leicester.
Explaining why Buckby claimed money she was not entitled to, Anne Crossfield, defending, said: “This was more a sin of omission rather than commission. Her stepmother had the idea she could claim the allowance.
“Miss Buckby signed the forms. She fully accepts she should have taken the time to read them.”
‘Very serious’
She added: “She’s not a person who set out to pull the wool over people’s eyes.”
Buckby had admitted the fraud at an earlier hearing.
Passing sentence, chairman of the bench Mary Methuen said: “Obviously benefit fraud is something we take very seriously but we do feel this could be dealt with by way of a fine.”
The Department for Work and Pensions welcomed the fine.
Lord Freud, Minister for Welfare Reform, said: “Benefit thieves are costing the taxpayer almost £1bn per year.
“This money is intended to help those most in need, not line the pockets of criminals.”

There is currently a planning application in to convert the house at 75 Otley Road (opposite the Arndale Centre) in Headingley to office and retail space. Which is fine….but unfortunately the plans extend beyond the boundary and take in the grass verge which is council owned.
Headingley in Bloom got permission to plant the grass verges in 2007 and for the last three years pupils from Shire Oak Primary school have helped to design and plant the beds. They provide a wonderful splash of colour in the centre of Headingley for a large part of the year.
The beds are also sponsored by a number of local businesses – including Crossleys Newsagents, Salvo’s, The Co-op, Label Boutique and Doveners Undertakers.
If the development goes ahead, Headingley in Bloom will lose the flowerbeds they have worked so hard for. There was apparently a public consultation early in July, but few people were aware of this.
A petition started at Crossley’s was recently stolen! But there is still just time to voice your concern – go to the planning applications section of the council website before Thursday 9th September. Enter the application number 10/03598 in the ‘Planning Application Search’.

A GLAMOUR model fiddled more than £2,000 in state handouts by claiming she was caring for her father – who lived 100 miles away from her.
Lori Buckby, 25, was raking in up to £4,000 a month with her appearances on an adult television channel.
But she was claiming a carer’s allowance for looking after her father who lived in Leicester, more than a two-hour drive from her home in London.
Buckby, who has posed naked on late-night TV, said she was not working to claim £2,406.45 for looking after her father, who suffered a stroke five years ago.
Prosecutor Eve Macatonia told South Western Magistrates’ Court in south London: “Ms Buckby submitted a claim form in April 2009 saying she was not employed. But in fact she was working as a television presenter between five and six days a week and her wage was between £2,000 and £4,000 a month.” Buckby, said to be of previous good character, appeared in court in little make-up and wearing black leggings, a white top and a navy coat.
She pleaded guilty on Wednesday to failing to notify the Department for Work and Pensions of a change in her circumstances. Buckby, of Battersea, south London, was bailed until Thursday next week when she is due to be sentenced.
